Over the weekend, police nabbed two men they believe are responsible for last week’s murder of Jose Antonio Lopez. The men, 21-year-old Emerson Elijio and 23-year-old Milton Nuñez were arrested and charged with Lopez’s murder. The duo stands accused of fatally shooting Lopez on Wednesday night, while the businessman was socializing on Barbara Harris Street. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, [believes] that the men ... targeted Lopez for his licensed firearm which is yet to be recovered.

Wing It starts tonight!
It airs live at 11pm (23:00) GMT on BBC Radio 4.
As a reminder, you can listen online on the BBC Sounds website or you can download the BBC Sounds app (there are a few countries where this is unavailable). If you're in the UK and have a radio/anything that receives FM or digital radio, you can do that too, but I imagine most people will listen online.
Don't worry if you miss it or can't listen live. It will be available to listen to after.
Here is where you can listen LIVE online: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_fourfm
Here is where you can find the episodes to listen to AFTER it's aired: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0025ssb
Or download the BBC Sounds app from whichever app store you use (but if you can't/don't want to, it's easy to listen via a browser, even on mobile). You can use the app to both listen live and stream later, plus you can download episodes.
Tonight's episode features: Steen Raskopoulos, Cariad Lloyd, Emma Sidi and the lovely AJ (and the host is Alasdair Beckett-King)
There's still time to listen to the pilot episode (with a different host, the wonderful Mr Mike Wozniak), if you haven't yet or would like to listen again. You can find it here:
Please support this if you love SFTH! It's hard to explain that it's a big deal for them to get a radio show (and on the station Sam produces for!) when they're already big on the internet/have sell-out live shows, but it's still really significant that they've made something for "traditional" media. It's so hard to get anything like this made! Although not quite as hard as getting a TV show off the ground...
Remember that the more people who listen, the greater chance of a second series!

That ask you got made me realize that Blitzø and Stolas both show 4 of those 5 responses at various points, which I think is very interesting. I really never thought about it before but that's actually pretty impressive bc it never seems "out of character" for them. I think Blitzø leans more towards fight tho we see a lot of fawning from him too, and I think Stolas leans more towards fawn but I guess Blitzø really did make him feel braver bc he shows a lot of fight too.
Fight: Blitzø in FM ballroom + after Striker steals the phone from Stolas + both fighting with and saving Fizz in Oops // Stolas confronting Stella on his balcony + most of his interactions with Striker in WE + most of his scenes in Truth Seekers
Flight: Blitzø avoiding Stolas once things got complicated + not giving Fizz the love letter // Stolas in FM hallway + trying to escape Striker in the café
Fawn: Blitzø to the client in Murder Family + in FM bedroom + trying to talk to Loona in Seeing Stars about her people skills // Stolas when Blitzø comments on his Ozzie's outfit + to Stella in LLL + in a lot of his texts to Blitzø post-Ozzie's
Freeze: both freeze up in Ozzie's + potentially Stolas in the FM ballroom bc we don't see him move except to flinch until the very end but that might just be him forcing himself to stop running
Listing it out like that also made me realize that those two spend a good chunk of the series some degree of scared, nervous, or feeling unsafe. These poor guys 😭😭
Yeah, once you start to think about how present their trauma is in their lives, you can't help but notice that they're both extremely traumatised and broken people. It's really sad, and really well done, in my opinion.
I really like how complex they both are and how many different symptoms of trauma they show—both survival reactions like the ones listed here, and just their thoughts and fears and how they handle their relationships.
What's really interesting and compelling to me is how similar they are despite how different their lives have been. And how the more episodes come out, the more obvious this becomes.
Like, up until now, we knew that Stolas often fawned to keep the peace for fear of being a burden or making others uncomfortable, like he did in his text messages to Blitz, and in Ozzie's when he immediately agreed to leave when Blitz said so. And we knew that Blitz hated himself, that his biggest fear was dying alone, that he couldn't even bear to look at his own face in pictures.
And then, in The Full Moon, we get Blitz going into an extremely childish and heartbreaking fawn spiral with his "I can always do better", making himself smaller, smiling, wagging his tail. And we get Stolas covering every single picture (and item) in his house, and then taking the time to uncover Via so she's visible, but not himself. And we get Stolas terrified of dying alone.
And to me, this conveys really well how no one's trauma is worse than others', how no traumatised person is more or less broken or hurt than the rest, how there's no "lesser" trauma. How traumatised people can't be neatly divided into "people who become sensitive and weak" and "people who develop thick skin". How your trauma may present differently and uniquely depending on the circumstances, but deep down the truth is always that you were deeply hurt, and you can't bear to be hurt again, and your life has become a constant cycle of trying (and failing, due to self-fulfilled prophecies) to avoid going through that pain again.
Truly, masterfully done ❤️

Remembering David Jones, and sending thoughts to his family and friends.
(Footage in this edit from the Blu-ray set, Getty Images, Australian TV, Extra, the 1990s documentary; audio 1 from Peter's 1999 interview with GOLD 104.5.)
“Genuine, reliable and huggable, Peter is a natural person — really gets off on talent — loves other musicians and can jam along with the best of ‘em. I saw him holding his own with Hendrix, Stills, Young. He encouraged me no end. Bought me my first guitar and my first drum kit. […] He used to walk with a swagger, shining his arms with a confident air. He calmed hysteria, and lifted depression. ‘Dried banana, anybody? Piece of orange?’ — smiling, waving, running his hands through his hair. He knew all the crew by their first names. Kids crying at his feet he lifted and hugged like a father calming a child. […] He’s the most musically talented of us all by a mile. His songs are real. ‘For Pete’s Sake’ — which replaced the Monkees Theme at the end of some of the shows of the second season — is one of my all-time favorite songs by anybody. I’ve joked a lot about Peter giving everything away. But it was true. He was always giving his spare room to someone who needed it for the night — anyone. And he always seemed far away somewhere — in a different space. But I’m glad I know him. Of all the things he gave me, he gave me lots of laughs — and food for thought.” - Davy Jones, They Made A Monkee Out Of Me (1988) “I enjoyed [Micky] the most, respected Mike the most, and loved Davy the most.” - Peter Tork, Hartford Courant, February 26, 1982 “Davy adored performing, and adored meeting and greeting his fans. He was tireless in making himself available to sing a song, do a dance, shake a hand; whatever was asked. I had heart-to-heart moments with him that were among the best in my life. I was blessed to know and work closely with him. He was one in about 6 billion, give or take. We won’t see his like again. He left much too soon. I share your sadness. Thank you again for this chance to contribute. God bless and keep you all.” - Peter Tork in a note for a Pennsylvania memorial event for Davy, also shared via Peter’s official Facebook page, 2012 Peter Tork: “He was a master of many aspects of this kind of thing [entertaining], and, you know, and we had some very wonderful personal connections, and I’m really sad to see all that gone.” Q: “He just seemed to be a fun guy. I know he loved horses.” PT: “Sure did.” Q: “And obviously loved Peter.” PT: “Sure did. Loved him.” - 94.5 FM (Phoenix), 2013 “[Micky] and Mike and I have a very cordial relationship and share a lot of common topics. We go to lunch together when we’re all in town and have a good time. I love and respect each of these guys in their own way, although the real joys that I shared with Davy were special. At one point we had some good hard connections but as the years rolled on, those things faded away. But I am sorry to see Davy go. He was the one member in the group that I had the strongest human connection with. I still have two guys that I love and respect left from the band, but we share a different dynamic.” - Peter Tork, Review Mag, May 27, 2016

"The first 30 songs I wrote for my first album, Walls, never went anywhere near the record. I'm probably right to do so. There's definitely and element of experimenting throughout that time. I don't love those songs when I listen back to them but they definitely serve the purpose to get me to where I am today."
-Louis on his feeling about the first songs he ever wrote. (2 April 2024)

I would’ve sworn up and down that there’s a book out there based on both Frankenstein and Jane Eyre (or possibly a story of Jane Austen’s) and that I learned about it via a tumblr post. Does anyone have any idea?
Jane stays on the moors longer and meets FM, and they’re buddies for a while. I don’t think they get together? But I would make them fall in love

obligatory long sappy post ahead
(cw// brief discussions of pet death, family death, ed recovery, toxicity, and suicidal ideation)
2023 was full of some amazing highs and absolutely horrific lows. i've had some amazing times with some amazing friends, gotten to see some of my favourite artists, amd had a pretty successful first year at a university i was told not to apply to because i'd be wasting an application. i've become absolutely obsessed with two bunnies that are full of character and absolutely adorable, honestly they're quite therapeutic to just be near. i'm so thankful for that. but i've also struggled a lot this year. my family lost two bunnies, my nanna passed, and i nearly relapsed after about 6 years of struggling with disordered eating. and then it became impossible to process that because immediately after i had to live with the same person that nearly made me relapse and deal with a lot of bullshit from them.
in june i put a song i liked a few years ago on a playlist while i travelled to visit my sister, and decided to listen to another song by the same artist. what started off as a need to listen to that song on repeat very quickly spiralled into a hyperfixation, and i'm so glad i found greta van fleet when i did. their music helped me distract myself and just feel a little bit happier when things got really bad this year, and i've met some amazing and beautiful souls because of them. i don't want to say that they saved my life because i wouldn't be anywhere near as okay as i am without the support from my friends and family, but they've definitely helped me avoid getting to the point i was at when i lost my grandad, and i never want to get to that point again. i doubt i'll ever get to say thank you to their faces so i'm putting this thank you to them out there so it at least exists.
i also want to give a massive thank you to the lovely people on here who never fail to put a smile on my face (whether i knew you before getting a tumblr or not). a massive shoutout to @oats-enthusiast @stardustvanfleet @sanguinebats @babygirljake @via-fm @kenobicoffee @nessie-stardust @sinsofstardust @sulkyrie and so many more mutuals that i genuinely cannot list you all. just know if we are mutuals, even if we've rarely interacted, i love you so much and every time i see your posts or your name in my notifications i start smiling like an idiot. thank you for being you and letting me be me. here's to a better 2024 🩷🩷

wandering through darkness | mini mood board - azz + music
Azz is something of an enthusiast when it comes to music and, despite this board, his taste is actually pretty vast -- he will literally listen to any genre of music, it just depends on what he's in the mood for. He uses a portable tape deck most of the time when he's out and about (mostly so that Rhys doesn't feel alone with his magic Walkman), but will sometimes opt for the neon green iPod Nano that Gray gave him while Azz was in AWO's hospital wing (to prevent him going completely bananas). The van is strictly CDs because it's an old van and the only options are FM radio or the CD player and Azz much prefers sticking one of his CDs in. His go-to favourites are: Rage Against The Machine, Vixen, Fall Out Boy, The Clash, Professor Green, Bastille, Lights, Enter Shikari, Recoil (huhuh**), Stormzy, Faith No More, VersaEmerge, Blur, and La Dispute. His favourites of the favourites are: RATM, Vixen, Stormzy, Blur, and Recoil. RATM is his all-time favourite band and is more likely to be blasting them in his van than anything else, but his favourite 'sing-along' band is probably Vixen (he and Gray have had karaoke/hairbrush moments in the van to Cryin' many, many, many times). Recoil is a favourite because of the 'old' Hammersmith Wilder wolf giving him a copy of subHuman when he was staying at the Sussex compound with his handler family when he was 17 and he often plays it to calm himself down. Stormzy he likes vibing to and Blur is a band that Gray introduced him to by accident via the iPod Nano and he's loved them ever since he'd clicked on Charmless Man. ** No, the irony of an Alan FC character of mine liking Alan's music is not lost on me, it's on purpose lmao

Today's compilation:
Mikrofoncheck 2 2000 Hip Hop
Tumblr media
No, Phife, you got it exactly right! This is Mikrofoncheck 2, a turn-of-the-millennium double-disc that highlights a bunch of good German rap tunes that were pretty clearly inspired by the US' own underground rap landscape at the time. And maybe I'm not the most equipped person to post about German rap, because I barely know any German words myself, but hear me out: the great thing about listening to rap in any language that you personally don't understand is that you don't have to involuntarily use any brainpower in order to interpret lyrics; and when you're not busying yourself with that aspect, you can then dedicate your focus to other parts of an MC's craft, like timing, flow, delivery, mic presence, etc. I feel like when dope US acts get little to no love in their home city, but then go on tour overseas and sell out venues in places where the people know barely any English at all, it means that there's a certain universality to rap skills. Like, you don't have to get what's being said in order for it to resonate. You dig?
So, speaking of underappreciated US acts, New York's Arsonists are on this release's very first track, with a remix of German rap pioneer Torch's "Die Welt brennt" that features a verse from one of The Arsonists' own members, Freestyle. If you know your 90s-2000s New York underground rap stuff, then you know that The Arsonists make S-tier music. They never broke big, of course, but they were one of the top groups to be featured on the Stretch & Bobbito Show, a legendary program that aired during the ungodly hours of 1-5 a.m. on Thursday nights/Friday mornings on Columbia University's radio station, 89.9 FM WKCR. But despite that absurd time slot, Stretch & Bob were still able to bring in a long, long who's who of unsigned and underground talent into the studio that would later go on to smash on a commercial level, including Nas, Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G., Big L, DMX, Busta Rhymes, and a whole lot of others. I actually caught the premiere of a Stretch & Bob documentary back in the mid-2010s in Central Park, and right before that showing was a concert that featured a bunch of the acts who ended up making that whole show what it was. And you already know that The Arsonists were on that stage, man!
Here's a little introduction to Stretch & Bob if you're not familiar:
youtube
Anyway, while that Arsonists remix is great, and is probably the tune that would get most people to cop this release in the first place, I don't think that it's this album's best song, overall; because that honor goes to Nico Suave's "Barkeeper." Nico has a super lame stage name, *BUT,* when you're talking about a full package of beats and rhymes, nothing else on this album tops that one. Astonishingly, the full-length, nearly five-minute version of this tune only has 344 views on YouTube, but this really feels like one of those bits of early 2000s gold that you'd randomly stumble across on Limewire back in the day. And I'm probably only saying that because the beat is on some smooth and soul-piercingly jazzy Nujabes type of tip. And if you knew Nujabes before YouTube, Samurai Champloo, and 'Chill lo-fi beats to study to,' it was probably because either you or one of your friends discovered him via file sharing.
And I know what some of you may be inevitably thinking: 'German rap? That actually sounds corny as hell.' But you're wrong. The German language may be sharp and clunky and it really may not seem all that compatible with rap on its face, but the beauty of it is that there's a deep uniqueness to the German language that has people rapping in ways that non-German speakers are fully incapable of doing themselves. Within every language are vast amounts of intricacies, with each one possessing its own capabilities and possibilities; and German rap really seems to unlock something that no other type of rap can, because there's no other language in this world that's really quite like German.
And on top of all that, a bunch of these beats simply slap too 😋.
Highlights:
CD1:
Torch feat. Freestyle - "Die Welt brennt (Arsonists remix)" Chosen Few - "Raw Beauty" Tim X-Treme - "Weird Shit" Lyn - "Blenda" Plattenpapzt feat. Tefla & Jaleel - "Wenn Zonis reisen" ABS - "Mathematik" Deichkind - "Was der Anlass" Nico Suave - "Barkeeper" Marburg Asozial - "Rap-Attack-Uppa-Cut"

Freestyle - "Die Welt brennt (Arsonists remix)" Deichkind - Was Der Anlass" Lyn - "Blenda" Nico Suave - "Barkeeper" Marburg Asozial - "Rap-Attack-Uppa-Cut" ABS - "Mathematik" Plattenpapzt feat.
